Ok. So, I’ve done shameless plugs before for this blog, but this one is the tip of the iceberg.
We are doing it!
I am pleased to announce that my good friend Dr. Laura Kohn-Wood, Dean of the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Miami, and I are launching the Academy of Emerging Enrollment Leaders – a conference for, yes, emerging enrollment leaders, on January 6-7, 2025 in Miami – a great time to be in Miami FYI (yes, another shameless plug). The conference is the synthesizing intersection of our two minds, a professional development opportunity, yes, but targeted at those up-and-comers and rising stars who are looking to learn not just about enrollment management but how to position yourself to take the next professional step.
The conference will feature some amazing leaders in enrollment management. First, I am thrilled to share that my good friends and colleagues Laurie Koehler, Principal at Koehler Consulting LLC and former Chief Enrollment Officer and Liz Cheron, Chief Executive Officer from the Coalition for College will be featured presenters. Also, my former colleague and good friend Daniel Barkowitz, Assistant Vice President of Student Financial Assistant and Employment at the University of Miami and true financial aid guru/rock star will be presenting. I am flattered that Georgette Edmonson-Wright, Vice President for Student Success, Research, and Experience at NYU will be speaking. Our keynote speaker will be Justin Draeger, Senior Vice President for Affordability at Strada Education Foundation.
The conference will serve to advance emerging enrollment leaders leadership skills while elevating their professional trajectory. The conference offers emerging Enrollment Management professionals the opportunity to learn from experts, grow their network, and build a robust toolkit to succeed in higher education leadership. The theme of the conference will focus on helping ensure institutional sustainability from an enrollment management context while working to lead change in enrollment management. In addition, the event will work to help emerging enrollment leaders understand the importance of personal resilience. Topics will also include how to manage disruptions while preparing for the unknown and include presentations on best practices in student success. How to build a resilient team, developing resilience as a leader, and managing a changing financial aid landscape will be additional discussion sessions.
Selfishly…biasedly, I am crazy excited about the academy. Not only do I get to get together with some of my great friends in higher education, but participants will experience and learn from some of the greatest minds in enrollment management. For emerging leaders, the topics will be those rarely discussed or touched upon at other higher education or enrollment management conferences. Some may intersect with similar topics, such as the changing financial aid landscape, but how to look around corners while being resilient and preparing for the unknown are unique. Tied to this, discussing student success best practices and diving into topics such as alternate enrollment vehicles get little airtime at other professional development events. Last, growing a personal resilience tool kit so participants learn to manage up and out are critical for emerging enrollment leaders.
So save the date – January 6-7, 2025 in Miami! Registration will be $299 with details to follow shortly.
